Gabion boxes are wire containers consisting of the hexagonal wire netting or welded meshes. According to differences of the production process, the gabion box includes two major types which are woven gabion boxes and welded mesh gabion boxes.

On the one hand, the woven gabion box consists of a series of hexagonal wire netting that is flexible to be used into different settlement applications. On the other hand, the welded mesh gabion box consists of square or rectangular welded wire meshes, widely used landscape applications. 

The gabion mattress is one type of the gabion box. Owing to their flexible and porous characteristics, they are able to absorb wave and wind energy to reduce scour problems associated with river and sea defenses. Gabion mattresses can also be placed on sloping hill sides or as a base for vertical walls, which stack courses of the gabion box.

Put crushed rocks into the gabion box and lay it as wall or bank, it can helps with the stabilization of slope, rocks prevention and debris falling, hill protection or construction and riverway protection. The for corners will be connected by lacing wire or fasteners. It is easy to install and transport.
